SASTA PETROL PACKAGE

         Federal Finance Minister Miftah Ismail announced the registration process to apply for the Prime Minister’s (PM’s) Petrol Relief Package (Sasta Petrol Scheme) announced in his address. The subsidy will be provide to the household with income less than Rs. 40,000 per month. The Sasta Petrol Relief Package will provide a subsidy of Rs. 2,000 to households with a monthly earning of less than Rs. 40,000 in order to spare them from the burden of the extremely high Petrol Prices in the country after the recent increase of Rs. 30 per litre.                                                            

        During a press discussion in Islamabad, Miftah Ismail said that households that are already part of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) will automatically receive Rs. 2,000 under the Prime Minister Sasta Petrol, while households that are not part of BISP can apply for the programme by sending their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) number to 786 to check their eligibility.                                    

        Furthermore, he added that the CNIC should belong to a women as the subsidy under the Petrol Relief Package will only be transferred to a women head of the household, which has an income of less than Rs. 40,000. He said the subsidy amount was equal to five percent of these families’ total income, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. The Sasta Petrol with Rs. 2,000 subsidy is expected to benefit more than 14 million families across the country. However, it bears mentioning that 7.3 million of these were already registered under the BISP and the remaining families will have to send the message to 786 to apply for the Petrol Relief Package.

How to Apply For Sasta Petrol Relief Package                                                                  

        You can apply for the Petrol Relief Package Rs. 2,000 subsidy by sending your CNIC number to 786 and check your eligibility for the programme. However, the CNIC should belong to a women head of the household as subsidy will only be transferred to a women under the Sasta Petrol.

                                                                                                                                                  Once you apply / register for the Sasta Petrol by sending your CNIC to 786, you will be informed about your eligibility within three days, according to the Federal Finance Minister Miftah Ismail. As mentioned above, only households will income less than Rs. 40,000 will be considered for the Petrol Relief Package. This initiative will release some burden on the low income and salaried persons.
